New Routines

One of the important things is to get a new routine down.

I decided to take the Dup for a walk every single day. That lasted three days until it rained for like a week straight. Sigh. We will keep trying.

Then my mom and brother came to visit which I loved. We spent time together, went to the beach and they kept the Dup company when I went to work.

Anytime I go to the beach on base I collect shark teeth and I have a small jar I keep them in. My mom and I were finding a lot since high tide was going out and Stefan was skim boarding. Suddenly Stefan goes, "I found one!" And I kind of went into typical big sister mode as he came over an expected to see a shell or a really small one. Nope. Kid had me über beat. This was hands down the biggest one I've seen on the beach and it just hit him in the leg when a wave came in. Lesson learned.

After awhile Stefan convinced me to try he skimboard. I did not die or hurt myself! i was pretty proud.

We also went to one of my happy places for dinner, Buddy's! I got my usual crab legs and a corona with plenty of fries and corn nuggets.

I still sometimes forget just how old my brother is getting. I'm ten years older than him and now that he is nearing adulthood it still baffles me sometimes. Especially when we were walking on the beach and he asked me how I was doing with this deployment and if it was different from last time. He's awesome.

I also got to hang out with my friend Donna and explore this store 2nd & Charles for the first time. You can buy used DVDs, books, CDs and games and also sell them back. It's like heaven for nerds. Especially for Whovians...

I got myself some TARDIS knee socks ;)

Otherwise I'm reading a lot, watching movies over from the library and occasionally treating myself to Cook Out when I need it. Crazy Stupid Love, the Dup and burgers. Not bad.

But I live for text messages ala wifi from Ryan and getting to FaceTime. That's definitely something we did not have last deployment!!

Him: Why didn't you tell me my nose is so huge?!
Me: It's not!
Him: Yes it is! Look!

Sigh. I miss him so much.

DWMM: The End!

Day 30: When did you become a fan of Doctor Who?

I kind of talked about that in the first post of the link up (whoops) which you can see here. Ryan and I had just moved to North Carolina and we were watching a lot of Netflix together and we just finished How I Met Your Mother so we needed a new show. Thanks to the geek section of Pinterest I had seen a lot of Doctor Who pins so I was curious. Luckily Netflix had it and we started to watch it. After a few episodes we were hooked.

We watched it every day when Ryan would get home from work until about bedtime. Some nights we stayed up late for one more episode. The more we watched the more we loved it. I may be slightly more obsessed than Ryan, but the fact that he is even into it at all is good enough for me! Now with me wanting half the merchandise from thinkgeek.com (they have an ENTIRE Doctor Who section!), having the TARDIS sound as a text alert and literally trying to get everyone I know into this show I definitely win the Whovian title in this family.

Yes I will have my children watch it one day. When they are old enough to appreciate its awesomeness... you know, considering they don't exist yet it may be awhile! So I have been a huge fan for almost a year now, and I am sad it took me so long to get into it!

Thank you all for joining us in this madness! Enjoy the series 7 part 2 release tonight on BBCAmerica!!

DWMM: Favorite Guest Star

Day 29: Favorite Guest Star

It may be a crossover thing for me, but I LOVE Mark Williams (aka Arthur Weasley) as Rory's Dad Brian.

Oh, and if you really want to cry... watch this video. It is what happens to Brian after Amy and Rory leave. Narrarated by Arthur Darvill in storyboard form.

Who is your favorite guest star?

Day 28: Favorite gif

I love this moment between 9 and Rose. It was from the episode 5 billion years in the future when the Earth dies.

DWMM: Favorite Interview

Day 27: Favorite Interview

Now I have to admit I haven't seen a lot of interviews, but this one has my favorite singer, favorite companion and one of my favorite Doctors! WIN. It isn't a Doctor Who interview per se but it is still hilarious and has two actors! Skip ahead to the 9 minute mark for Doctor Donnaness.

Edit:  I had to add part 2 because it is equally hilarious!

DWMM: Favorite Doctor Gadget

Day 26: Favorite Doctor Gadget

Does the TARDIS count as a gadget? Well, if not, too bad... because that is my favorite!

I'm not gonna lie, whenever I get a text message it makes the TARDIS sound. I may have a problem.

And it is followed closely by Ten's Timey Wimey dectector!

It goes DING when there is stuff!

What is your favorite Doctor gadget? Sonic Screwdriver? Intergalactic cell phone? Link up and let us know!

DWMM: Favorite Doctor Catchphrase

This is a toss up for me between Nine and Ten. I love both, but there is one I say a lot more and always think of in his voice....

DWMM: Favorite Spin-off

Day 23: Favorite Doctor Who Spin-Off

To be honest, I only watched part of one spin-off and I didn't get too into it.

And that would be Torchwood. Which is an anagram for Doctor Who by the way ;)

It is definitely Doctor Who's sexier, gorier and darker sibling. As much as I love Captain Jack Harkness I cannot get into it as much as Doctor Who. Ryan and I watched maybe three episodes. Maybe if the Sarah Jane Chronicles ever come on Netflix I will try watching it, but so far the spin-offs do not wow me like the Doctor does!

Do you watch Torchwood or any other spin-offs? Link up and let us know!

Also, today I guest blogged for one of my best blogging friends. It is a post that appeared on my blog before and I wanted to use it again. It was tough to write but if it even helps on person it was worth writing. You can read it here at A Boy, A Girl and the Marine Corps.

DWMM: Favorite Friendship

Day 22: Favorite Friendship

I am tempted to say the Tenth Doctor and Donna, but I have done a LOT of them in this link up. So I am going to mix it up and say...

Amy and Vincent Van Gogh!

This is hands down one of my most favorite episodes of Doctor Who. I know Vincent was semi in love with Amy, but they had a beautiful friendship that I cannot deny! Yes, their children would have been the ultimate gingers, but I love how strongly they reacted to one another without being romantic. It almost seemed jokingly to me, Vincent knew Amy's heart belonged to someone (even if she couldn't remember) and they could laugh about it.

The scene where the Doctor breaks his rules and brings Vincent to the museum to hear the curator praise his work literally had me in tears. It was such a beautiful moment.

Van Gogh
: Oh Amy, I hear the song of your sadness. You've lost someone I think. Amy: I'm not sad. Van Gogh: Then why are you crying? It's all right. I understand. Amy: I'm not sure I do.

Amy was determined to make a difference and try and save Vincent and it broke my heart when she couldn't. But as the first picture I posted shows, even though she couldn't change history she did make a difference.
