North Carolina Baby Shower

This past weekend, June 18th, we had our local baby shower with our friends and my immediate family. Our friends Mark and Kayla generously offered to open their home to us and host and they did an amazing job! Kayla seriously put together a baby shower our of Pinterest with the help of her mom and my mom and I was blown away. Sadly we had a few last minute cancellations and a lot of my family couldn't travel down because of it being Father's Day weekend, but the crowd we had was wonderful and I am so thankful to all those who were able to be there and celebrate with us.
Bean's nursery is safari themed because of my love of giraffes and that was the theme of our shower! Welcome to the Jungle greeted us when we came in, plus tons of food (twigs, cheetah tails, elephant snacks, zebra cakes...), a blue candy bar for making your own goody bag (with my mom's famous Chocolate Covered Oreos) and a cargo table for presents!

The "watering hole" had jungle juice (not the same kind I had in college I promise), desserts were zebra cakes and tiger tails, plus Ka the sandwich snake! How cool right?!?
Sorry for my shaky editing, but now we are revealing our Bean's chosen name, James William, aka Will. Men in my husband's family go by their middle names, him included, so baby Will is going to follow that tradition. James is after Ryan's grandfather (who went by his middle name Doug and told him, "Son, never name a kid Doug.") who passed away in the first year we were married and was like a father to him. William is after my dad (who is really my stepdad) since I always regretted not having him legally adopt me and this is my small tribute to him.
So baby Will it is! With a small cameo by Jeffrey the Giraffe on the bottom left there.

Ryan and I were once again blown away by everyone's generosity! Our cargo table was definitely full!

Our party guests... at the top is our best friend Donna, in the middle are my coworkers Jennie, her husband Kevin, and Lauren, and on the bottom is my husband's former Master Sergeant and his wife.
The top picture here are our hosts, Mark and Kayla, and my brother Stefan, and of course the bottom is my brother and my mom. Looking at these photos I can see how huge I have gotten as I am nearing the end of my pregnancy and we still have at least 7 weeks to go before full term! Yikes!

Between both our showers we know this baby is so incredibly loved and we are one blessed family. Thank you to everyone who came to either of our showers, sent a gift, or sent us love from afar! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

DWMM: Favorite Doctor Gadget

Day 26: Favorite Doctor Gadget

Does the TARDIS count as a gadget? Well, if not, too bad... because that is my favorite!

I'm not gonna lie, whenever I get a text message it makes the TARDIS sound. I may have a problem.

And it is followed closely by Ten's Timey Wimey dectector!

It goes DING when there is stuff!

What is your favorite Doctor gadget? Sonic Screwdriver? Intergalactic cell phone? Link up and let us know!

DWMM: Favorite Spin-off

Day 23: Favorite Doctor Who Spin-Off

To be honest, I only watched part of one spin-off and I didn't get too into it.

And that would be Torchwood. Which is an anagram for Doctor Who by the way ;)

It is definitely Doctor Who's sexier, gorier and darker sibling. As much as I love Captain Jack Harkness I cannot get into it as much as Doctor Who. Ryan and I watched maybe three episodes. Maybe if the Sarah Jane Chronicles ever come on Netflix I will try watching it, but so far the spin-offs do not wow me like the Doctor does!

Do you watch Torchwood or any other spin-offs? Link up and let us know!

Also, today I guest blogged for one of my best blogging friends. It is a post that appeared on my blog before and I wanted to use it again. It was tough to write but if it even helps on person it was worth writing. You can read it here at A Boy, A Girl and the Marine Corps.

DWMM: Favorite Friendship

Day 22: Favorite Friendship

I am tempted to say the Tenth Doctor and Donna, but I have done a LOT of them in this link up. So I am going to mix it up and say...

Amy and Vincent Van Gogh!

This is hands down one of my most favorite episodes of Doctor Who. I know Vincent was semi in love with Amy, but they had a beautiful friendship that I cannot deny! Yes, their children would have been the ultimate gingers, but I love how strongly they reacted to one another without being romantic. It almost seemed jokingly to me, Vincent knew Amy's heart belonged to someone (even if she couldn't remember) and they could laugh about it.

The scene where the Doctor breaks his rules and brings Vincent to the museum to hear the curator praise his work literally had me in tears. It was such a beautiful moment.

Van Gogh
: Oh Amy, I hear the song of your sadness. You've lost someone I think. Amy: I'm not sad. Van Gogh: Then why are you crying? It's all right. I understand. Amy: I'm not sure I do.

Amy was determined to make a difference and try and save Vincent and it broke my heart when she couldn't. But as the first picture I posted shows, even though she couldn't change history she did make a difference.

DWMM Days 12-15

I know I know, I am behind again. Sorry!

Day 12: Episode that scared you the most

Across the board I think for everyone.... Blink. The first time I ever saw it one part made me scream out loud and made my husband jump!

Day 13: Favorite Theme Song

Honestly they are all similar but I guess Season 2 stands out a bit for me.

Day 14: Character you like that everyone else hates

Martha Jones! Please, if you hate her, read this link. It explains it all perfectly on why it is absurd to hate her!

Day 15: Most Annoying Character

See Day 03. I'm sticking with that. I don't care for the least favorite categories.

Link up and join the madness!

DWMM Days 9, 10, 11

Day 09: Favorite Master

Well, because I have only watched the new series my favorite Master, by default, is the only one I have seen. He is really good at the part though!

Day 10: Saddest Episode

I have two episodes that made me sob... literally sob. One hit me very early on in the series in the first season, and that was the episode Father's Day. I was literally on the couch crying my eyes out as I watched it and my husband thought I was slightly insane. It is one of those episodes I think a lot of people can relate to. If you could really time travel and go and be with your father so he did not have to die alone most people would. And most people would be tempted to change fate regardless of the consequences.

Then the most recent sob fest, again literally sobbing, was The Angels Take Manhattan. Any episode that says goodbye to a companion or Doctor is hard, but seeing Amy and Rory go through what they did broke my heart. The Eleventh Doctor was so close with these two, they were literally family. Amy was the first face his new face saw and that meant something huge. It also got me because Amy is terrified of the Weeping Angels... in the hotel episode when they were trapped and the rooms contained her biggest fears she faced the Angels. She once walked blind through a forest of Angels and even had one trapped inside her mind... yet she willingly let one get her so she could spend her life with Rory. Sobs.

This last picture was actually taken on set when the cast received their Angels Take Manhattan scripts and Matt Smith burst into tears seeing what would happen to Amy and Rory and knowing he had to say goodbye. Like I said, I sobbed.

Day 11: Funniest Episode

There are tons of episodes that have funny parts, but to think of an overall funny episode was hard for me. Eventually I settled on Let's Kill Hitler, because let's face it, the title alone is awesome. There are some of the best one liners in this episode and some amazing things do happen as well.

Rory: Is anybody else finding today just a bit difficult? I'm getting a sort of banging in my head.
Amy Pond: Yeah, I think that's Hitler in the cupboard.
Rory: That's not helping...

DWMM: Least Favorite Season

Day 08: Least Favorite Season

I have to say Season 5. Even though it contains my ultimate, favorite episode (Vincent and the Doctor) I find the rest of the episodes weaker and I am not a big fan of the majority of them. Except the Weeping Angels episodes, those are cool.... but this is also the Eleventh Doctor's first season. Plus we add in a new companion and it takes time to adjust to the quirks of a new Doctor/Companion team. Especially after one as epic as the tenth Doctor. So I am going to go with Season 5.

Now I don't hate this season, but if I had to pick one to be my least favorite, this would be it. Gosh, I don't like these least favorite questions, it makes me feel like a bad Whovian!
