Birthday Part 2!

Last night Ryan came home with a bottle of Rose Champagne to celebrate my first day of work, and he only keeps surprising me!!! It is my first birthday I have ever gotten to celebrate with him (and the third we've been together) and he has just been wonderful.

First, thank you for the birthday wishes! My facebook of course got flooded. It is interesting people I never talk to anymore still feel the need to write on my wall for my birthday...but whatever! I still love it. I still have lots of texts and I got a fun box from my mom. She sent me some money for work clothes, moonshine jelly from North Carolina, a coca cola bag and bottle opener (<3 Diet Coke! and vintage coke stuff), some candy and candles. Mom even tried to send me flowers and chocolate at the office but I didn't get them :( And thanks for the touching entry on your blog Mommy (:

The girl I work with at the front desk said Happy Birthday but that was it for work for most of the day. So imagine my surprise when at 4:30 we got told to put the phones on Do Not Disturb and to go to the cafe for a "meeting". We go inside and they got me a cake!!!! And a card!! On my second day of work! I was very touched. (:

Now we have a tradition in my family where we hang this special sign every birthday for every person. It was up in my living room when I came home!!! Along with...

Going way back in the blog to this I Want it Wednesday entry you can see how long I have wanted an amazing camera like this. My glorious hubby did me one better, he asked the guy at the camera store his opinion and got a better camera than the one I wanted! I am the proud owner of a Nikon Coolpix P100!! It is AWESOME. I am currently reading the manual cover to cover and we plan to go to the park this weekend to play so I can take pictures and learn while doing. SO psyched.


Ryan had a long day so he is napping before we go to dinner. We're going up to the Italian place right up the street that I have been dying to try, it has sidewalk tables and white lights and looks wonderful.

I Want It Wednesday

I want to go to THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER at Universal Studios in Orlando Florida. I have been reading Harry Potter since I was 11 years old. Yes I am a dork but I am ok with that. I was going to sleep away camp for the first time and my mom was like, "I found this book about a wizard who is a detective, do you want to read it?" I remember looking at her like she was nuts and saying "Um... no." But my faithful mother sneaked Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets into my trunk. Yes I know that is the second one, but for some reason with early releases I believe the second book was released first (or more popularly) in the USA. Even if my mom was way off about what the series was about (a detective?) I was more than hooked.

Let's just say I read it about three times that week. I didn't even know it was the second one, but it did make a lot more sense when I read the first one and came back and re-read the second one... again! I have been a faithful reader ever since. I have gone to midnight book releases (and even combed the island of Crete in Greece to get the seventh book when I was studying abroad... read it in three days between my classes after finding it in the fifth bookstore I went to!) and even the midnight movie releases. Yes I know the movies are very different but I love them on their own if I don't try and compare the two.

So naturally, I want to go!!!



I even have a friend from Disney working there now! I am SO jealous! She was at the grand opening and saw the cast of the movies and has an awesome job. Can I just say I'd kill for it probably? I want to explore Hogsmeade and Hogwarts.



I want to go to Honeydukes and try all the candy I can.



I want to see the shows and go on the rides!!!



And of course I want to try Pumpkin Juice and Butterbeer. All my Disney friends who have gone to Universal to see the place say butterbeer is AMAZING. It is even better if it is frozen. So yes... I am dying to go. I am even re-reading the series this month to get back in the groove. I have read all the books many times, but never really read all seven back to back. So I am doing it now. I am starting the fifth book today.

It's a shame my husband would rather gouge his eyes out than go somewhere like that... *sigh*. He even yells at me (jokingly) when I am reading in bed at night instead of paying attention to him :P And it is expensive!! The trip there, the hotel, the tickets... maybe if I win the lottery... yes it could work.

But I would have to play the lottery first.

Darn.

I Want it Wednesday

CABLE and INTERNET.

It has been over a month and yes I am surviving but it is SUCH a nuisance! I want to look up directions, recipes, upload pictures from my wedding and honeymoon, fix my blog and update regularly, figure out the bus near my apartment, watch instant stream from Netflix...... UGH.

Ok, maybe the internet is more needed than cable. Surprisingly I am living well without that. Me, Mrs TV Junkie. I used to need the tv on in my room to fall asleep if I was by myself. Sure having a Marine husband to snuggle with has eased me out of that very nicely...

Everyone tells me I should start watching Glee but I missed all last season. I could use Hulu if I had internet! And cable for the current season!

One more week. I can do it!!!!! Until then mooching off free wifi on campus at work or at the barracks will suffice... and Ryan's phone for emergencies!

I Want it Wednesday 5

A full time job come fall.

Simple right?

I want a job that I do not hate. I want one that I will not dread weekdays and having to get up in the mornings and count the hours down until home. One that isn't too far from home. One with good people and doing something wonderful.

I am not jaded, I am in no place to be a full time actor (a girl can dream) but in the mean time something to bring money into this marriage and pull my weight (and still act on the side) would be amazing!!!

I think the picture says it all. It can't hurt to dream big right? I've only been practicing my acceptance speech since I was 10 in my bathroom mirror. And envisioning the amazing movie I'd be in to earn it. The fellow actors change, Robin Williams, Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Sandra Bullock... or all of them!

I Want it Wednesday 3

For this Wednesday I am going away from technology and fashion and going right to Mother Nature herself. I hope this isn't too strange to want, but I want it to be sunny on my wedding day. It can be cool or hot... though cool may be more comfy in my dress and the guys in their blues! But I want sun. I want pictures of us in the sunlight, maybe a perfect sillouhette shot like the one I found. I just hope it doesn't rain (or heaven forbid snow) and it is just a beautiful May day. Fingers crossed!!

I Want It Wednesday 2

So for I Want It Wednesday this week I am avoiding expensive technology and going for fashion for a change. I have always wanted an off the shoulder dress. But I am rather, well let us say, busty and I can never find one that fits me right. I was even flirting with the idea of getting an off the shoulder wedding dress but the one I tried on cave me cleavage rival to the Grand Canyon (but still was quite Jackie-O like in some way) so needless to say that fell through.

My mom's wedding dress (well her first one) back in the 80s was actually off the shoulder and I loved it. It wasn't terribly 80s as one would expect for the year she got married but my cousin Jackie had it refitted to be a white gown day dress when she was in high school. She and my cousin Jill went to an all girl Catholic school that had these special days with mass and stuff where they all wore white gowns and gloves so she used my mom's wedding dress and updated it and refitted it... then I have no idea what happened to it.

But anyway. I want to find a strapless dress that fits me and flatters me and doesn't make me look like a street walker. Or someone who doesn't know how to find a bra that properly fits. Either or.

I Want It Wednesday

Ok a lot of the blogs I read do this and I am jumping on the bandwagon. Ignore the double posting of entries faux pas, but it is Wednesday so it must be done!
A Nikon D300. A Digital SLR Camera that makes my inner (albeit small) photography nerd, melt inside. I LOVE taking pictures and tote my cheaper digital compact camera around with me everywhere I go. Literally! But a nice, good quality, amazing camera like this would make me so happy. It has an LCD color screen, can do continuous shooting from 6 frames per second up to 8 frames per second, and so many other wonderful features I won't even bore you by going into them all.

Hey Easter Bunny... I'm lookin' at you! ;)
