I may be...

A tad "homesick".

Maybe it is because Ryan is in the field and I am by myself.

Maybe it is because I haven't found a job, or gotten to really make friends yet.

Maybe it is because I have talked more to my dog today than any other human.

Maybe it is because it rained all day. And will all week if the forecast is correct.

I miss Alexandria. I miss Old Town. I miss DC. I miss my friends. I miss my job. I miss cobblestones and brick and long walks with gorgeous row homes.

I know it takes time. I know it has only been a month. But tonight I am lonely and sad and I can gripe here because it is my blog. I will keep trying... I know in a few months I will find my stride. It just isn't happening tonight.

  4. We need to take a trip to either Wilmington or New Bern. They both have that beautiful brick side walk/cobblestone/old mansion feel and will make you feel like you are home. I'll make some plans with Nicole and we will kidnap you :-)

  7. You're not the only one; I've felt really homesick lately too. It's been raining here a lot and that doesn't help anything! I hope you have a good weekend! :)

  8. I hope you can meet some friends soon! It's tough being somewhere new and finding "your people." I felt like it took me FOREVER and a day to locate my current friends. It's never easy, but always worth it right? Hope the field training is over soon!!

  10. Hey! Just found your blog from the blog directory. I get homesick a lot. I'm from the west coast and we've been transplanted to the midwest because of my husband's school. Hang in there!

  14. It is hard to be in a new place. Always takes me at least 6 months, sometimes longer to really feel like a new place is home for me.
